Gifts for Norwegian-American Families
Over four million Americans carry Norwegian roots. Most of what's sold to them is costume — horned helmets, slogans, fjord-cruise kitsch.
This is the other kind.
Your family name, carried in runes
A personalized Elder Futhark name print takes the family name — the one that crossed the Atlantic, maybe simplified at the harbor, still yours — and renders it in the oldest Germanic runic alphabet. A runic birth marker does the same for a birth date: a child's, a parent's, an ancestor's.
Designed in Norway. Usually printed in the US.
Fornvegr is a small Norwegian business. US orders are usually printed by our print partner inside the US, so most arrive without import charges, in about 8 to 17 business days from order. Every name follows one documented rune system, explained letter by letter in our Rune Guide.
The gift for the relative who has everything
Christmas, Syttende Mai, a milestone birthday, or no occasion at all — a name that traveled that far deserves to hang on a wall. Enter the name, preview the runes instantly, and every name is checked against our rune guide and approved by us before print.
Før vi glemte. — Before we forgot.
